Piano Great Earl Wild Passes Away

January, 2010 - Earl Wild, one of the 20th Century’s greatest pianists, died in January of 2010 at the age of 94. He was a legendary figure in the world of piano, performing throughout the world for over eight decades. For two of his most significant performances in later life—his 90th birthday recital at Carnegie Hall in 2005 and his 2007 performance at Disney Hall after receiving the Grammy’s Lifetime Achievement Award—he played the Shigeru Kawai EX Concert Grand Piano.

A Shigeru Kawai artist, Mr. Wild also recorded Earl Wild at 88 on the 88s (Ivory Classics, CD-73005) and Living History (Ivory Classics, CD-75002) on the Shigeru EX piano. The world has lost an incredible artist of immense talent who leaves a legacy that very few in the history of the piano can match. All those who love true piano artistry will miss him greatly.
